Range of Motion, Positioning, Lifting and Transferring - Online Inservice
Contact Hours: 1
Cost: $10.00
When patients are recovering from illness, are disabled, or have limited mobility, they may require assistance to move around in bed, to transfer from the bed to a chair or wheelchair, or to ambulate. Changing patient positions in bed and mobilization are vital to maintain flexibility, muscle strength, prevent skin breakdown and pressure injuries, and help body systems function properly. The amount of assistance required depends on the patient’s health status, age, level of mobility, and more. As a nurse aide or caregiver, you may be asked to help with range of motion exercises, and to assist in positioning, lifts, and patient transfers. It is imperative to have a good understanding of proper techniques and body mechanics to prevent injury in both yourself and the patient.
